Overview

Volunteers will be going to Corozo, Panama to refurbish one of the churches built by Ultimate Workout volunteers who visited the country in 1996. Churches in Panama experience regular use, and the constant sun and rain showers create wear and tear on the buildings. This is an opportunity for volunteers to give one church a much needed facelift by painting it inside and out. The group will also raise money to purchase some much needed fixtures for the church and will conduct outreach projects in the local community. After the project, the group will have the opportunity to participate in a local excursion.

This project is geared towards volunteers who have a previous connection with the Ultimate Workout through personal experience or through the experience of a friend or loved one. There will be special times to reflect on UW memories and experiences as well as share how the Ultimate Workout impacted their lives. This project is open to all those willing to share in these memories and have a willing heart for service.

Travel Information

Volunteers will purchase their own plane tickets to and from David, Panama or to David and from San Jose, Costa Rica if they join the optional excursion. Please wait for confirmation before purchasing your airfare to ensure that there is still space on the project.

There are very few flights that go directly to David, so you will most likely have to transfer in Panama City, Panama. Please note that Copa Airlines is the only airline that transfers directly from the international airport (PTY – Tocumen). Most other airlines require you to take a flight out of the domestic airport (PAC – Albrook). Maranatha recommends flying with Copa and transferring in the international airport. If you take a flight into Tocumen and out of Albrook, you will need to get your bags, leave the airport, and take a taxi or other form of transportation to the domestic airport across the city. If transferring from Albrook, please allow for at least four hours to make this connection.

If you will not be joining the optional excursion, you will need to depart from David, Panama on Saturday evening. Your return trip will most likely require an overnight layover in Panama City. Please make your own reservations for that night’s accommodations and transportation to the airport.
