Overview

Join Maranatha on a special mission experience for young adults, ages 18-28. Come be a catalyst for change, and discover how service can spark transformation in communities, faith, and you! This project will combine spiritual renewal, authentic conversations, and international service into an unforgettable mission trip as you connect and serve along side like-minded peers.

Volunteers will be working in the town of Izcuchaca, Peru, just an hour away from Cusco. The Izcuchaca Adventist Church started in 1999 and a small group of 10 began meeting in a rented home. Since then they have grown and four new congregations have branched off into churches of their own. They purchased a piece of land and built a structure on the back of the property to use as Sabbath School classrooms, but have had to meet in the building for church services as well. Not only is the worship space small for the 40 current members, but it doesn’t look like a church to the surrounding neighborhood. The members are praying for a new church that will better represent their faith and give them space to grow.

Young adults will lay the block walls for the new church building as well as reach out to the community through children’s programs, food ministry, health education, and more!

Excursions
Machu Picchu

Volunteers will take a break mid-week to visit Machu Picchu! Machu Picchu is one of Peru’s most popular tourist destinations, located high in the Andes Mountains. The ruins of this ancient Inca city have been voted one of the “New” Seven Wonders of the World, and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was originally built in 1450 as an estate for the Inca emperor, but it was abandoned during the Spanish Conquest. The ruins are truly a sight to behold with the city set on a grassy plateau and the peak of Huayna Picchu behind it.
