Overview
Lewiston Adventist Church is in Lewiston, Idaho and is one of our many efforts based in North America. Each year, Maranatha works with organizations in the United States and Canada to provide volunteer labor for various construction or renovation projects.
Volunteers on this project will assist with a bathroom remodel. It will be a small team, skills required, work will include plumbing, tile and sheetrock. Basic demolition tools, tiling, plumbing and carpentry tools needed. Very limited housing with a few RV hook ups.
Project Stats:122 work days*7days*$30hr = $25,620
Bathroom Renovation – The work that was completed was to remove all the stall dividers, plumbing fixtures and any furniture, light fixtures, and mirrors from the bathrooms. The accent walls were stripped of wallpaper (very tedious but necessary), and the other walls were stripped of the formica. The wall between the bathrooms was stripped to the studs including removing the insulation. Two layers of flooring were stripped off to get down to the floor joists. Both rooms had slope created in them by sistering floor joists beside existing structure to create the slope. New drains were then created and installed in both rooms by the plumber. The wall between the bathrooms was fixed/reinforced/reframed in some places. The wall toilet structures were then secured to the new wall (they hadn’t been before). Adjustments were made for wall heat vents and all the interior plumbing, also making sure there were no leaks. Then the wall between the bathrooms was insulated again. Subflooring was glued and screwed to the floor joists and sheet rock was added to the open walls and repaired where needed elsewhere. The walls were then taped and textured and finally an orange peel texture was applied. Once that dried, we were able to paint the walls with a three tone paint job. What remained after the two week project was floor and wall tile to be installed (a couple local flooring people are doing that), the plumbing fixtures and sink cabinets to be installed (sink cabinets done on Monday), and the divider stalls to be replaced. New light fixtures and the old mirrors will be installed. There will also be a few areas of touch up painting after everything is installed.
