Union Springs Academy (NY) Project
What's Included
Overview
Union Springs Academy is one of our many efforts based in North America. Each year, Maranatha works with organizations in the United States and Canada to provide volunteer labor for various construction or renovation projects.
Volunteers will be working at Union Springs Academy in the state of New York (western New York, near Buffalo). The academy was founded in 1921. Over the years the campus has grown to include administration and classroom buildings, dormitories, faculty housing, a church, and athletic facilities. In addition the school operates a farm and orchard and has many cabins on campus that are utilized for camp meetings and other events.
On this project, volunteers will help with a few projects on the campus and renovate the cabins that they use for camp meeting. This work includes general carpentry, jacking and leveling the cabins, roofing, painting and some electrical.
Project Stats:390 vol.work days*7*$30=$81,900.
At the end of the week, all carpets were shampooed and vacuumed throughout the boys and girls dorms, the admin building and the library; a part of Union Springs Academy’s Elementary school was repainted; the entryway walls, and iron fencing to USA’s cafeteria and front porch of the girls dorm, were repainted: the windows in the boys and girls dorms, and the cafeteria sparkled once more; all wood on the benches at the center of the campus was removed and replaced, and the frames painted; new stone flower beds were built and the gardens weeded. Seeming hopelessness was vanquished, as cabins were raised and leveled; rotted sidings removed and replaced; all old paint scraped off; and new doors and windows installedns
