Overview

Camp Alamisco (AL) Project is one of our many efforts based in North America. Each year, Maranatha works with organizations in the United States and Canada to provide volunteer labor for various construction or renovation projects.

Camp Alamisco is a Seventh-day Adventist Youth Camp and Retreat Center in central Alabama. It is located on a 55 acre peninsula of land that extends into beautiful Lake Martin. Volunteers on this project will be helping with lodge upgrades and renovations. Renovations will include: demolition of interior non load bearing walls, flooring, electrical, plumbing, window and door installation, HVAC, drywall, paint and finishes. Please consider joining this project, skilled volunteers and helpers needed!

Project Stats 2020: $113,820 (562 volunteer days x 7hrs per workday x $30/hr)
Camp renovations consisted of:
8 rooms painted (14 different colors), one wall of the chapel and some trim, staining of tongue and groove for ceiling and installed in 4 rooms, demolition of 8 rooms, 8 rooms framed, installation of insulation, sheetrock hardieboard. Hand rails applied to showers, installed 7 murphy beds. Flooring installed in 4 rooms. Tile installed in 7 rooms, installed barn doors (14), 7 toilets and vanities installed. 8 French doors installed as well as windows, bath lights and bath racks. For complete list, please see report.

Travel Information

If you are planning on flying to the project, the closest airport is in Birmingham -Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM). This is approximately a 2 hour drive to and  from the camp.

Please book flights that come in before 6 pm on the arrival date. If you need to fly in later, please check with the Maranatha office to confirm that your arrival time can be accommodated. If you are flying to the project outside of the arrival and departure date, please check with the office to be sure you can be accommodated or you may be responsible for your own transportation. Please send your itinerary to volunteer@maranatha.org so pick up arrangements can be made.
