Overview

*Arrival date is August 19, it was previously August 21, we have added a couple more days. The Pacific Union College (CA) Project is one of our many efforts based in North America. Each year, Maranatha works with organizations in the United States and Canada to provide volunteer labor for various construction or renovation projects. Volunteers on this project will help with the men dorm renovations. This includes paint, flooring, electrical, cabinet rebuilding and plumbing. Lots of skill needed, and helpers too!

Pacific Union College Newton Hall Remodel 2019
31 rooms remodeled
Room remodeling included:
Painting selected rooms
Prep walls by patching holes
Prime walls after patching
Mask room for spray painting
Spray paint room with primer
Spray paint room with cover coat
Replace floor covering
Remove carpet in selected rooms
Level and patch floor with filling material
Cover floor with plywood. Screw seams at 3″ and field at 5″
Inspect all subfloor screw sites for screws
Sand subflooring
Lay down flooring adhesive
Lay down new flooring
Cover floor for painting
Install new baseboard
Install new door threshold
Remodel room sink
Remove existing sink
Patch wall
Cover cabinet side of sink area with waterproof laminate
Frame in and cover plumbing chase for new A/C
Build kickboard and wall frame for new sink cabinet
Fabricate and Install sink cabinet faceplate
Fabricate and Install sink cabinet doors
Fabricate and Install sink cabinet countertop with sink hole cut out
Install tile border around sink counter
Install new medicine cabinet
Electrical
Replace ceiling lights with new LED fixtures
Replace vanity mirror light with new LED fixture
Drawer Cabinets
Build drawer cabinet fabricating jigs
Build new cabinet countertops
Build new drawer cabinets with drawer slides
Add drawer slides to drawers
Fabricate face plates for new drawers
Add new face plates to drawers (drawers were prefabricated)
Remove existing drawer cabinets where still in place
Install new cabinets in selected rooms
Install new cabinet countertops
Install new tile border around new cabinet countertop (limited to tile material on hand)
Overhead Cabinets
Fabricate overhead cabinet doors
1 reception area floor new flooring
Strip floor
Lay down flooring adhesive
Install new flooring

Travel Information

If you are planning on flying to the project, the closest airport is San Francisco International (SFO). This is approximately 80 miles from the school.

Please book flights that come in before 6 pm on the arrival date. If you need to fly in later than 6 pm or outside of the arrival and departure dates, please check with the Maranatha office to confirm that your travel plans can be accommodated.
