Union Springs Academy (NY) Project
What's Included
Overview
Union Springs Academy is one of our many efforts based in North America. Each year, Maranatha works with organizations in the United States and Canada to provide volunteer labor for various construction or renovation projects.
Volunteers will be working at Union Springs Academy in the state of New York (western New York, near Buffalo). The academy was founded in 1921. Over the years the campus has grown to include administration and classroom buildings, dormitories, faculty housing, a church, and athletic facilities. In addition the school operates a farm and orchard and has many cabins on campus that are utilized for camp meetings and other events. For over nine decades Union Springs Academy has provided quality Christian education to young people.
On this project, volunteers will renovate the boys dorm, which was built in the late 1960’s. Work will include removing old flooring and installing new flooring, painting, replacing light fixtures, and refinishing furniture. In addition there are other tasks around campus including updating the hallways, painting stairwells, landscaping, and more!
Renovations included painting boys dorm rooms, all on 1st floor, and 3 on 2nd floor. Painted stair wells on both ends, chapel (boys dorm), exercise room, foyer and front entrance. Power washed outside of chapel and painted and repaired chapel in in girls dorm.
Stain boys dorm apartment deck, picnic tables, and benches.
