Overview

*** On December 19, a new rule restricting foreigners’ access to three Indian states, including Mizoram, was issued. Since then, our field staff has been determining whether the rule would affect our projects and whether special permits would be readily granted.

We now understand that this week’s government decision prevents volunteer projects from happening in Mizoram, where the Pine Hill School is located.

Our field staff is currently developing alternative plans for a construction project in another part of the country that will not affect those who have booked flights to and from Delhi.

We advise those who have not yet bought domestic (IndiGo) flights to Aizawl to stand by and those who have already bought to look for the airline’s refund and changing policies to be confirmed as soon as we have an alternative.

We are sorry to share this news, but we are confident that God cares for everyone and everything.

We should not have additional information until Monday, December 23. ***

Excursions

After the project, volunteers can choose to join the optional excursion to the city of Agra. On Sunday morning, those joining the excursion will fly to Delhi (domestic flight not included in excursion fee) and drive a few hours south to the city of Agra, home to the Taj Mahal.

On Monday morning, the group will enjoy a sunrise tour of the Taj Mahal, a stunning marble mausoleum, that is considered one of the world’s architectural masterpieces. Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal as a memorial to his wife. Tour guides will share information about the life of the Emperor and the construction of the beautiful building.

On Tuesday (February 18th) volunteers will return to Delhi for evening departures home.

There is an additional fee to take part in the excursion, which will include all hotels, food, ground transportation, entrance fees, English-speaking guides, and insurance. Domestic flights in India are not included.
