Overview

Maranatha’s annual teen-only project, the Ultimate Workout, is entering its 35th year, and we’re headed to Paraguay and Brazil! Each year, high school-aged teens from around the world join the Ultimate Workout and find opportunities to get out of their comfort zone, serve others, connect with Christ, and grow physically, socially, and spiritually. Maranatha provides all project leadership. In fact, adults are not allowed to participate in the project unless they are pre-selected by Maranatha as staff or leaders.

This year, we expect up to 120 volunteers to make a difference in the Triple Frontier, a tri-border area along the junction of Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay, where the Iguazú and Paraná rivers converge. Teen volunteers will help construct two new churches Campo 9 and Km 40). Depending on the size of the group, we will paint an existing church and reach out to the community through children’s ministry programs and medical clinics. For the excursion, volunteers will cross the border back to the State of Paraná in Brazil to visit the Iguazú Falls, the largest waterfall system in the world.

Km 40 Church – Located at the margins of Highway 2 which connects the Capital Asuncion to the Triple Frontier, it was formed by missionaries several decades ago. The church location also hosts the broadcasting equipment for the local Adventist World Radio. The presence of that church community also gave birth to the nearby Adventist boarding school. The 80-year-old building is falling, and the local members need your help. Volunteers will come to build the walls and provide a more durable place of worship.

Campo 9 – Also located on Highway 2, the Campo 9 church was planted by Brazilian farmers. The pandemic hit that church family really hard, but a few people continued worshiping in a small building on the plot of land owned by the church. Maranatha will also provide the foundation and structure for a new church, and volunteers will lay blocks to complete the new building at the end of July.

This project has limited capacity, and confirmations will be made after the $199 (non-refundable) deposit or a full payment is submitted.
