La Guama Sabbath School Classrooms

In 2008, ten members of La Guama 1 Church established a new congregation in Cambita Sterling, which has since grown to about 80 Sabbath attendees, including 30–35 children. In July 2026, Maranatha’s Ultimate Workout teenagers built a new church for this dedicated community, but the children still need a dedicated space for spiritual growth. Maranatha now plans to build additional classrooms and bathrooms, with the Catalyst Project returning to the Dominican Republic in July 2027 to help make this vision a reality. With at least $200,000 needed to begin construction, your generous gift will help provide children with a place to learn, worship, and grow in Jesus. Will you help us finish what we started together?

In 2008, ten members of La Guama 1 Church established a new congregation in Cambita Sterling to spread the gospel in the area. The group first met in Sister Lola’s home and later moved to their current meeting place, where they continue to worship today. The congregation now averages around 80 Sabbath attendees, 30 to 35 of whom are children.

This past July, a team of Maranatha’s teenagers, with the Ultimate Workout project, was assigned to build a new church building for this dedicated congregation. Although the new church will bless most of the congregation, many children who attend every Sabbath still lack a space for spiritual development.

Maranatha Volunteers International is now focused on building an additional structure on the same property, including multiple classrooms for kids and bathrooms for the whole church community. In July 2027, the Catalyst Project, a group of collegiate students and young adults, will come to the Dominican Republic to answer that need.

A significant portion of the funds has been donated to cover the church building costs. To start the classroom building, Maranatha will need to raise at least $200,000. A finished church includes a strong metal frame, roof, walls, sidewalks, stucco, paint, electrical, windows, and doors.

Your generous gift will help transform that community and give the kids a place to gather, worship, and share the hope of Jesus for years to come. Every donation brings them closer to completion. Will you help us finish what we started together?
