Overview

Join Maranatha in the fascinating country of India! There is a great need for churches and schools throughout the entire country of India, and volunteers on this project will be able to help answer prayers for the Pola Adventist School, just outside the city of Ranchi, in the state of Jharkhand.

The school has completely outgrown their facilities and need more classrooms to accommodate the many students that want to attend. Maranatha has agreed to build new brick classrooms, a dormitory, and a bathroom building for the Pola School. The exact building that this group will complete is still to be determined.

Depending on the number of volunteers who join and their skill sets, the group may also reach out into the surrounding community through health outreach and children’s ministry programs.

At the end of the project, volunteers will have the option to join an additional excursion to the world-famous Taj Mahal and Ranthambore National Park, a tiger reserve located south of Delhi in Northern India.

Excursions
Optional Excursion: Taj Mahal and Ranthambore National Park: $990

On Saturday night, volunteers will fly together from Ranchi to Delhi, and then the following morning, the group will make their way a few hours south by bus to the city of Agra, home to the Taj Mahal.

The Taj Mahal, a stunning marble mausoleum, is considered one of the world’s architectural masterpieces. Mughal emperor Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal as a memorial to his wife, and the tour guide will share information about the life of the emperor and the construction of the beautiful building.

Ranthambore National Park is one of the biggest national parks in northern India. While the area was once hunting grounds for the ancient kings, it is now a nature reserve that is a major wildlife tourist attraction. The biggest draw to the park is the possibility of seeing Bengal tigers in their natural habitat. In addition, the park is home to Indian leopards, wild boars, striped hyenas, sloth bears, langurs, macaques, and crocodiles. The group will have a full day safari in the park on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the group will travel to Jaipur for evening departures home.

This excursion is an optional add-on that volunteers can choose to join for an additional fee. All hotels, food, ground transportation, activities and entrance fees, and English-speaking guides are covered by the fee paid to Maranatha.
