Overview

Join Maranatha in Zambia and work at the Emmanuel Adventist Secondary School!

The school was opened in 2011 and today has 300 students. Their current campus does not have enough classrooms to accommodate the current students, much less allow for any future growth. They also do not have enough dormitory space or an administration building. The school and conference leadership approached Maranatha in 2019 with the request to build much-needed classrooms and address other campus infrastructure needs.

Volunteers on this project would be the first volunteer team to serve on the campus, although Maranatha has been working on campus since April, 2020. The group will build the masonry block walls for one of the buildings as well as reach out into the community through activities like children’s ministry programs and health education.

This project also has an optional safari excursion and a visit to the world-famous Victoria Falls at the end of the project, available for an additional cost.

Excursions
Included: Game Farm

One afternoon during the work week the group will end wrap up a little early, and on the way back to the hotel, they’ll make a stop to visit a privately owned game farm. There are more than ten different species of African animals including zebra, impala, warthog, eland, and kudu. After driving through to see the animals, the group will enjoy a picnic dinner at the covered lodge before returning to the hotel that evening.

Optional: Victoria Falls and Safari: $910

Sunday: Volunteers will travel by bus to Livingstone, Zambia.

Monday: The group will view Victoria Falls from Zambia and then cross into Zimbabwe to see the falls from the other side. During the rainy season, millions of gallons of water thunder over the falls each minute and mist rises more than 1,600 feet in the air. November is the peak of the dry season, so the falls will look very different, but it is still a unique place to visit. That evening, the group will enjoy a sunset river cruise on the Zambezi River.

Tuesday: The group will enjoy a full-day safari and have a chance to see all kinds of animals including elephants, water buffalo, hippos, zebras, lions, cheetahs, and much more.

Wednesday: Individuals can choose to add a lion encounter to their trip for an additional expense or enjoy a relaxing morning at the hotel before departing for the airport that afternoon.

The excursion has an additional cost which covers everything you’ll need during the excursion including accommodations, local transportation, meals, and entrance costs.
