International Volunteer Manager

Maranatha Volunteers International is a Seventh-day Adventist, Christian non-profit organization. Our mission is to change lives through the construction of urgently needed churches, schools, and water wells by mobilizing volunteers on short-term projects. The goal of the Volunteer Services Department is to create meaningful life-changing service experiences for volunteers of all ages and backgrounds.

Maranatha is currently seeking an International Volunteer Manager to work full time at its headquarters in Roseville, California. This is a salary position that will offer opportunities for personal growth and a chance to make a difference in the lives of others.

Job Summary

The International Volunteer Manager will be responsible for the planning of international volunteer projects. Among other activities, the manager will gather and organize the necessary information for a complete volunteer experience, recruit and manage international leadership and volunteers. The position may require regular travel and will report to the VP of Volunteer Services.

Primary Responsibilities

The International Volunteer Manager position works within the Volunteer Services Department to plan and facilitate projects for individuals and groups of volunteers.

 

  • Work with the VP of Volunteer Services to determine the scope, location, and frequency of international volunteer projects.
  • Identify and recruit volunteer leadership for projects.
  • Establish budgets and participation costs for projects.
  • Gather necessary information and write information packets as needed.
  • Work with the marketing department to produce supporting materials.
  • Distribute project information to participants by mail and email.
  • Prepare, train, and manage volunteer leaders for projects.
  • Answer field questions from individual volunteers and leaders.
  • Contact volunteers via phone or email with information about upcoming projects.
  • Track volunteer registrations, payments, and flights.
  • Track necessary information about projects and volunteers in the Maranatha database.
  • Implement volunteer evaluation programs and provide feedback and analysis for quality control to the VP of Volunteer Services and other leaders as appropriate.
  • Communicate with field staff or hosts regarding preparedness for volunteer projects.
  • Provide leadership as Project Coordinator for international projects.
  • Build relationships with Maranatha leaders and supporters.
  • Request funds, track expenses, and reconcile budgets for open team projects.
  • Cover the volunteer emergency line on a rotating basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work effectively with top management, volunteers, donors, and fellow staff.
  • Comfortable with a work schedule that may include some travel and occasional evening and weekend work.

 

Annual Wage

$67,000 – $85,000/year
